"Regular madness"

This is what could be said about traffic in an Iranian city! To a Central European like me, the driving style of most Iranian motorists appears chaotic and sometimes even suicidal, but we did not see a single accident in all the time we were there! This is downtown Shiraz, by the way, and there was even more traffic than usual because we happened to visit the country during the Nowruz holidays, when it felt as if everybody was on the move ...

Thanks to our excellent bus driver, however, we got to our respective destinations in time and ... unharmed!

Happy ST, everyone!

The car became a polluting and more and more intrusive object ... I appreciate for it the nature and little villages

Finally, they criticize them but they copy the Americans with their "yellow cab"

Getting from A to B extends itself more each day, it seems . .

17 Apr 2018 7:30am

@Ronnie 2¢: Sadly true ... what used to be a ten-minute drive is now almost an hour sometimes ... :-(

Anna Cherer from LA ROCHELLE, France

An unexpected traffic jam ! I did not think that there was so much car in Iran ! Thank you for the explanations !

17 Apr 2018 7:41am

@Anna Cherer: Thanks, Anna! City streets are often crowded, and there's lots of traffic on some of the overland roads as well. It's to be expected in a country of over 80 million people!

Graciel·la (Vic. Catalonia) from CAT. New European State, Poland

Absolute chaos ! As in Egypt, for exemple, or Cuba, or... Maybe chaos is the solution.
Have a nice ST

@Graciel·la (Vic. Catalonia): Thanks, Graciela! You're right, perhaps chaos is the new order ... ;-)

Traffic these days is alarming !
To spend twenty minutes at a place, we spend three hours on the road..Some of our cities too experience terrible traffic snarls !

Wow!! If this is regular, as in occurrence, I would not have the patience! I see where another lane merges from the left. The taxis stand out nicely in yellow. Happy ST!

Happy ST! Many cities have chaotic traffic, I think

Rick from Toronto, Canada

It looks much like many streets in Toronto, but our drivers are more infamous for their cavalier attitudes toward inclement weather. They drive as though conditions were ideal and many fender benders occur. A superb documentary shot, sir franz.

The very definition of chaos it seems. A cool capture of all the traffic.

he must have been a good bus driver, indeed, if he could squeeze through those little gaps.

Darkelf Photography from Perth, Australia

This photo brings back memories as this is a common sight in south east Asia as well (thinking of Bangkok or KL). Despite the chaos, everyone seems to know where they are going and how to navigate the traffic.

18 Apr 2018 2:47am

@Darkelf Photography: Perhaps what we consider as 'normal' is in fact the exception. Perhaps chaos is the new order ... ;-)
