a short break from my trip to Northern Italy
The January of 2017 has been the coldest January in the last 30 years here in Austria, and the third coldest since the start of recording temperatures. There is still not an awful lot of snow around, but nights can get quite cold and daytime temperatures seldom rise to above 0° centigrade.
No wonder therefore that ice started to form on the nearby creek and on the canal, with often very attractive results. In addition, the overcast sky, together with the rising or setting sun, made for enchanting winter hues, too.

in order to adjust an image to your screen, do this:
hold the Ctrl key and move the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
hold the Ctrl key and press number 0 to return to your original setting.

@grouser: Cheers, Grouser! The 'smoke' is from a district heating plant that supplies a large section of the nearby town with heat and hot water. A necessary thing, though perhaps not a beautiful one ...
