even though there's hardly any snow, the temperatures are still low enough for ice to form on lake alleghe at the foot of monte civetta in the venetian dolomites.
the valley that leads out of the picture takes you to belluno, the provincial capital, and eventually down to the venetian coastal plain. from alleghe to venice it is only a two hours' drive.
(this is the same fence as in yesterday's photo, only i was looking 90° to the left.)

@Judy aka L@dybug: thanks, judy! as to the repercussions, we'll have to wait and see. fortunately not all winters are so 'snow poor' as this year's. in fact, the valleys of the southern alps are rather prone to heavy rains and floods in spring, so again, we'll have to wait and see ...
@Steven: more snow wouldn't have been a problem, as this is more or less a flat piece of mountaintop just outside the terrace of a restaurant ... but it would have changed the looks of the place!
