sassongher, corvara's prominent mountain backdrop, rises beyond the high plains of col alt. this picture was taken on the ONLY fair-weather day during our recent "skiing"-holiday to the south-tyrolean dolomites - when we went skiing on exactly ONE day ! this panorama, and similar ones, is what draws us to the dolomites every year, and until this year we had not been disappointed ...

@Shiva: großartig, wie du dich erinnern kannst! ja, der lift auf den col alt geht noch immer hinter der posta zirm weg, heute allerdings als gondelumlaufbahn, so dass es fast keine wartezeiten mehr gibt. apropos posta zirm - wir gehen während unseres aufenthalts mindestens zweimal dorthin abendessen! sehr gut, wenngleich nicht ganz billig ... ;-)

@Steve Rice: definitely, steve! on our drive to corvara, every time we go, when the dolomites come into sight, both irene and i heave a deep sigh ... ;-)
@Judy aka L@dybug: thanks, judy ... matterhorn is much higher, though, and perhaps more impressive, but the way sassongher rises behind corvara is spectacular enough! perhaps you remember this image from two years ago ...
@DarkElf: it was the 16th time that we were there ... 14 in winter and 2 in summer ... and we'll keep coming back ;-)
