"CONFLUX - a union of the sacred and the anonymous" was an exhibition of over 20 polychrome sculptures by sean henry, located both inside and outside salisbury cathedral. it was open from 25 july to 31 october 2011, in accordance with the cathedral's art policy, which 'seeks to use visual art to inspire and allow contemplation of the cathedral from a new perspective'.
"walking woman" (2008, bronze, all weather paint) - an 8ft high figure of a woman strides purposefully towards the ornate west front of the cathedral. dressed in black, her enlarged scale and feeling of movement is heightened by the location the artist has chosen for the work.
